JOB DESCRIPTION

The Installation Technician works in a team or independently to install and commission the following:

  • Geothermal Loops
  • Geothermal units both forced air and hydronic
  • Hydronic manifolds
  • Hydronic radiant floor warming
  • Snow Melting
  • Boilers
  • Air Handlers
  • Chillers
  • Pool Dehumidification systems
  • HRVs
  • HVAC controls

REQUIREMENTS

Zonelife, a leading provider of specialty HVAC systems for the high end residential market, is looking for a Hydronic and Geothermal Installer. All applicants MUST have a either G2 Gas Fitter, Refrigeration Mechanic License or Plumbing License and a strong understanding of hydronic systems with a minimum of 3-5 yrs experience with hydronics.

Certifications

  • G2 or greater gas license
  • Refrigeration license/ODP AND/OR plumbing license
  • WMIS, First Aid, CPR, and Fall Arrest an asset
  • Clean driving record

Qualifications viewed as a strong asset

  • Mechanical P. ENG
  • HRAI RHL RASD
  • Certified GeoExchange Installer / Designer
  • Licensed Journeyman Sheet Metal
  • Licensed Electrician
  • Oil Burner License

The successful candidate must have a strong working knowledge of the following:

  • Hydronic Heating
    • Understand how to read a piping diagram and build it in the physical space provided
    • Understand all pipe fittings and valves, pumps and flows, and able to commission and troubleshoot new or existing systems
    • Capable of soldering pipe up to 2” neatly, square, and with a focus on quality
    • Capable of fitting iron pipe up to 2” neatly, square and with a focus on quality
    • Capable of flushing systems both new and existing
    • Good working knowledge of all distributions systems such as radiant floor heating, air handlers, indirect fired hot water tanks, snow melting, etc
    • Able to install radiant floor heating in basements, and main floors, and 2nd floor+ applications
    • Able to test functionality and prove working conditions for hydronic distribution system
    • Able to install LVT controls for Pumps, Thermostats, and other hydronic control devices
  • Geothermal
    • Geothermal Fusion Ticket, Canadian Geo-Exchange Geothermal Installer certificate
    • Able interpret line layout and install it in the physical space provided
    • Able to direct/monitor  excavation to provide trenching as required by drawing
    • Able to direct/monitor drilling to provide drilling locations as required by drawing
    • Able to pressure and flow test all loop installations
    • Able to direct electrician for all power hook ups
    • Able to install or direct for the installation of sheet metal where required
    • Able to connect and program thermostats
    • Able to fill out GeoExchange system registration
    • Able to connect to and commission/troubleshoot equipment operation for hydronic and forced air systems
  • Gas Technician Work
    • Gastite and/or Wardflex certified
    • Able to select gas appliance pipe venting and combustion air locations
    • Able to install Gas Venting and combustion air pipe
    • Boiler Certifications a strong asset
      • Able to install commission and troubleshoot boilers
      • Able to service boilers for PMI
      • Able to service boilers for service issues
  • Sheet Metal
    • Ability to install or direct the installation of sheet metal
    • Ability to understand friction loss and duct sizing
    • Able to measure and order custom duct fittings
    • Able to understand forced air equipment such as air handlers, HRVs, humidifiers, Pool dehumidification equipment, etc
  • Controls and Electrical
    • Able to read electrical schematic
    • Able to communicate/coordinate with Electrician the scope and requirements of electrical needs (pumps, control boxes, units, etc)
    • Able to install LVT controls
    • Able to diagnose/troubleshoot unit operations
    • Able to build and/or diagnose custom LVT control panels
    • Good working knowledge or relays, switches, timers, PLC controls, temperature sensors, etc
    • Able to troubleshoot controls
  • Service
    • Provide preventative maintenance and diagnostic repair services
    • Report problems and their resolution including documentation of labour costs and materials
    • Able to troubleshoot the many different types of equipment on the market today
  • Physical Aptitude
    • Able to deadlift  70lbs+
    • Able to work in unconditioned mechanical or outdoor spaces that might be either hot or cold
    • Able to maintain excellence in a 12 hour shift environment
    • Able to manipulate small parts such as wires and controls
    • Able to work standing for long periods at a time
  • Tools Required
    • Must provide all hand tools for job required
    • Refrigeration tech must supply own reclaimer and gauges

Job Description

Zonelife, a leading provider of specialty HVAC systems for the high end residential market, is looking for a HVAC Project Foreman with a G2 Gas Fitter AND a Refrigeration Mechanic License OR Plumbing License. The successful candidate be able to demonstrate a strong team and project management specifically in construction. The successful candidate must be a technical leader in hydronics and carry a minimum of 7-10 years experience in hydronics.

Required Certifications
