Federal Grant for Geothermal Installation is Back! $4,375

Geothermal Grant is Back!

Geothermal Grant is Back!

As experienced Geothermal installers Zonelife is happy to announce that the Grant for Geothermal installations has returned in the amount of $4,375.

The grant is active from June 6th, 2011 to March 31st 2012. Geothermal also know as ground source heat pumps use the temperature of the earth to heat or cool your home with little to no geoimpact on the area in which it is installed.

To be eligible for the Geothermal installation grant the geothermal system must be installed by a company qualified by the Canadian GeoExchange Coalition (CGC). Zonelife is qualified by the CGC and made numerous installations during the last geothermal incentive program.

All geothermal system installations by Zonelife were approved by the CGC and the customers were approved for the geothermal grant.

Zonelife ground or water source earth-energy systems (geothermal systems) are the most environmentally friendly way to heat and cool your home emitting no greenhouse gases or carbon dioxide. Our Zonelife Geothermal team will design, install and service a geothermal system that operates exceptionally quietly with precise distribution of heating and cooling throughout your home.

Consider how you are currently heating your home. Perhaps you are using natural gas, electric, propane or oil? Replacing any of these sources with a geothermal install will result in immediately lowering your monthly expenses by up to 70%.

The government is becoming increasingly conscious of both preserving the environment and reducing the burden of high energy costs to help homeowners which is why they have brought back the geothermal grant.

Zonelife is experienced with quality geothermal installations and has the happy customers to prove it. We use only the most energy efficient units and experienced professionals to ensure you reach your maximum energy efficiency.

What does Samsung Washing Machines have in common with Geothermal Heating?

Geothermal GeoSmart Premium Q Radiant Floor HeatingGeoSmart Premium G Geothermal Furnace Forced Air Heating coolingI just recently bought a Samsung washing machine and dryer and am delighted with its performance and saw similarities in their market approach to our geothermal unit of choice. The obvious first thing noticed was the sleek and stylish look of the Samsung which is comparable to the GeoSmart Premium Q units making them a site to see in any mechanical space. Second each has a strong focus on energy conservation. In my purchasing process, I discovered that washing machines are migrating to the direct drive motor design away from the belt drive configuration. Geothermal units have been direct drive for a while now and are also ECM motors. Both units focus on quiet operation. I can certainly say that the VRT (Vibration Reduction Technology) is definitely quiet and almost vibration free. The GeoSmart Premium Q units are also very quiet with cabinet insulation, compressor blankets and the sorts.

Energy Efficient GeoSmart Geothermal Units

This led me to wonder if the mechanical room is now a destination in the home. As energy conservation has surpassed being a just a trend and now a mainstay in modern living. Are there are bragging rights now in how home energy conservation is achieved? I wonder how often people talk about their energy consumption and implement a ‘beat the Jones’ strategy on conservation. In my home, we got rid of our high consumption freezer and opted for an Energy Star rated one, purchased a new washer and drier, and now are looking at the Energy Star fridges on the market all in an effort to be more of a conservationist while enjoying some bells and whistles to boot.

Geothermal manufacturers also have to consistently now challenge themselves with innovation and reinvent how things are done.  All units have recently migrated from R22 refrigerant to R410A, a more environmentally friendly yet less efficient refrigerant. This posed a challenge to designers in that the new units had to be reinvented to keep up and or beat previous COP (Coefficient  of Performance) ratings with a less efficient refrigerant. This meant a reinvention process on other components gave them success. They also started to come a long way in their ancillary offerings. Now much of what are on the market are two stage units that allow a lower stage of operation for our mild spring and autumn seasons. On board diagnostic equipment for easy service and troubleshooting indications. Then for the bells and whistles units such as the GeoSmart Premium Q, for example, have built in hydronic heating ready connections for applications such as radiant floor heating.

I am excited to see the next steps in where the technology will migrate. With much of the HVAC (Heating Ventilating and Air conditioning) industry migrating to better control strategy and web capable interfaces for service and reporting, there is much that is to come in the near future. Who knows, we might even see fully modulating compressors as a new standard.

Indoor Pool done right with Geothermal in Halton Hills

We have had the pleasure of being involved with Poolscape and Open Aire on a project in Limehouse, Georgetown in the Halton Hills area in Ontario. This building boasts some of the most impressive style accents in the all tile pool, spa, and chill pool, almost all glass design with retractable roof, and a geothermal and state of the art Dryotron pool dehumidification system from JTH Best Engineering.

We are very excited to post some of the pictures in the next write up here and keep posted for an update!

Just Flying in for a Geothermal and Radiant Floor Heating Service Call from Sudbury to Temagami

It is not many times that the commute can be one of the most exciting part of an service call.

Flying to Geothermal Service call in Temagami

Flying to Geothermal Service call in Temagami

I had the fortunate pleasure of meeting one of the most honest, down to earth person from Sudbury, again.

We met at the National Home Show a few years back in Toronto and after he reviewed our work compared, he knew we were the Geothermal and Radiant Floor Warming contracting firm he wanted to work with. That was back in 2007. This year at the NationalHome Show, he popped by our booth and since he was delighted with our geothermal and radiant floor warming installation he wanted to see if we could assist him with another project at his cottage, his new industrial building and his Airplane hanger. How could we refuse!

A real testament to the Geothermal space is not talking to customers who just installed their system. Albeit I do like hearing about how different the air quality is, how much fresher the air  is during cooling and heating, how quiet the system is, etc. However, a customer who has bought the system a while back and is still excited about their technology and system is another great feeling. It is especially true when they want more!

So in our trip we were able to visit some of the future sites for our work and visit the cottage which is still a work in with our heating systems for Radiant Floor warming and Geothermal Heating have been running smoothly it was clear skies ahead!

New Geothermal Drilling Rig for Vertical Drilling

Vertical drilling with style!

I was driving by GeoSmart yesterday and (safely) slammed on the brakes!

Zonelife uses GeoSmart for Geothermal Vertical DrillingI just had to turn my truck into their parking lot to witness the initial calibrations of the new geothermal vertical drilling rig. We’ve all been waiting on this machine for what seems like ages.  I stand by my first review with Stephen Marco, this tool seems to have all the bells and whistles that will make it an effective rig to service our vertical drilling clients.

Urban single family residential geothermal has been a relatively untouched market and has been eclipsed by larger, commercial or multi residential projects. In the capable hands of GeoSmart I’m convinced that there ‘ll be increased activity in this important sector of alternative energy.  Zonelife Inc is excited to be a part of it.

Zonelife has recently used vertical  geothermal heating systems for installation applications such as Indoor Pools, Chill Pools and Spas, and   Radiant Floor Warming.

GeoSmart advances the market Vertical Drilling for Geothermal

GeoSmart advances the market Vertical Drilling for Geothermal

This new rig is remote controlled, and has a slightly smaller foot print. Its miles ahead of most rigs in its ability to drill.  From its rod loading system, to its drives, and its control station, it has all the right components to for almost all vertical drilling situations.
