New Geothermal Drilling Rig for Vertical Drilling

Vertical drilling with style!

I was driving by GeoSmart yesterday and (safely) slammed on the brakes!

Zonelife uses GeoSmart for Geothermal Vertical DrillingI just had to turn my truck into their parking lot to witness the initial calibrations of the new geothermal vertical drilling rig. We’ve all been waiting on this machine for what seems like ages.  I stand by my first review with Stephen Marco, this tool seems to have all the bells and whistles that will make it an effective rig to service our vertical drilling clients.

Urban single family residential geothermal has been a relatively untouched market and has been eclipsed by larger, commercial or multi residential projects. In the capable hands of GeoSmart I’m convinced that there ‘ll be increased activity in this important sector of alternative energy.  Zonelife Inc is excited to be a part of it.

Zonelife has recently used vertical  geothermal heating systems for installation applications such as Indoor Pools, Chill Pools and Spas, and   Radiant Floor Warming.

GeoSmart advances the market Vertical Drilling for Geothermal

GeoSmart advances the market Vertical Drilling for Geothermal

This new rig is remote controlled, and has a slightly smaller foot print. Its miles ahead of most rigs in its ability to drill.  From its rod loading system, to its drives, and its control station, it has all the right components to for almost all vertical drilling situations.

Geothermal Installers Sponsors Lenzr photo Contest

Fire and Ice photo contest on Lenzr for geothermal installation company sponsorThe Fire and Ice photo contest on Lenzr.com is a very cool idea for a hot competition.

We selected this theme to allow participants to properly showcase their ‘fire photography’ skills, and it also helps them think about geothermal energy.

On Saturday Feb 27th 2010  I met Rob Campbell the Smojoe at the 2010 National Home Show at the ZoneLife display in the Better Living Centre in Toronto.

At Zonelife we are always looking for new ways to get the message out about geothermal heating and cooling systems. After a brief discussion with Rob about social media marketing, keywords, blogging and link building, I decided to give it a whirl, and give my website a much needed ’shot in the arm’.

Lenzr is a serial photo contest website in which the participants pick the winner.  The message tends to travel virally as the users encourage friends to vote for their pictures on the index.

Geothermal heating and cooling is cost effective, reliable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly way to heat and cool your home. Recent technological advances have dramatically expanded the range and size of viable residential units especially for applications such as home heating, and in particular floor heating.

GeoAir PCO air purifier unit that uses ultraviolet light to break apart organic molecules suspended in mid airThe Prize is GeoAir PCO air purifier

Photo Catalytic Oxidation (PCO) is perhaps the most advanced air purifying technology available today. And unlike existing air cleaning systems that rely solely on ultraviolet light, the GeoAir PCO device integrates a titanium dioxide semiconductor to leverage photocatalytic oxidation allowing it to vaporize indoor air pollutants, including those that cause odors, and break them down into non-toxic products like C02 and H20.

Bacteria, viruses, mold spores don’t stand a chance and are destroyed when they come into contact with the system’s 187 square-inch Ti02 grid. All volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) are destroyed. The system is cost-effective, maintenance-free and provides maximum energy efficiency with negligible resistance to airflow.

Also on Lenzr this month,

Particpants could win a 10x pop-up tent plus $500 gift certificate courtesy of a Toronto party rentals business.

Or win a state-of-the-art AT&T model #1070 phone from this business phones provider in Markham Ontario.

Or win a Neuton CE6 battery powered lawnmower worth $450 courtesy of a grass cutting operation in Toronto (that’s solar powered, uses bio fuel trucks and practices 100% organic lawn care) Check these guys out.

Did I meet you at the show this year?

Let Me Introduce Myself, I’m Steve Hamoen

ZoneLife, logo for Ontario geothermal heating and cooling design and installation businessHello my name is Steve Hamoen, and I’m a geothermal installation expert based in southern Ontario.  I’m the President of Zonelife Inc, founded Jan 2007 to provide home owners with cost effective heating and cooling alternatives through configurable, engineered, hydronic solutions.

You might remember me from Burlington Centaurs Rugby, or the Toronto Multi Hull Sailing Club? If I am not with my son, wife, friends and family, you’ll find me sailing my 24′ shark around. If we’re friends I expect you to comment on the blog, and say ‘hello’.

Ever since I was young, I’ve been involved in the HVAC industry. My father, Jake Hamoen, is the President and Founder of JTH Best Engineering, which has been around since 1988.  We have a very active working relationship today; he helps design many of our projects.

Steve Hamoen from Zone Life at Toronto Home Show in Better Living Center Feb 28th In the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with him on some of the largest homes in Canada.  These HVAC (Heating Ventilating Air Conditioning) challenges have certainly opened my eyes to some of the best hydronic design for floor warming, and the many ingenious ways to integrate geothermal with indoor pools, gas boilers and geothermal heating masterpieces.

This blog is my professional journal in which I’ll share insights into recent advances in geothermal technology, and the unique innovations that I encounter as the director of Geothermal Installers.  Subscribe to my RSS feed for snapshots of our projects, staff and procedures. This portal will show our signature approach to geothermal heating and cooling in pictures and links.
